Captive breeding / propagation

The offspring of Zuchtformen 46 are possible. Unfortunately, the number of offspring is not large enough to cover the demand of the trade. If you are interested in Zuchtformen 46, please ask your dealer for offspring. If you already own Zuchtformen 46, try breeding yourself. This will help to improve the availability of offspring in the trade and to conserve natural stocks.

Husbandry

Amphiprion ocellaris "Maine Mocha"
Very special thanks for the photo of this beautyful Amphiprion ocellaris "Maine Mocha" to Soren Hansen von Sea & Reef Aquaculture.

Description
Maine Mocha Clownfish is a color variation of the regular ocellaris clownfish. We created this unique color variation by pairing a Black and White Darwin ocellaris with an ocellaris clownfish. With a perfect blend of orange glow and freshly brewed coffee brown, the Maine Mocha Clownfish is a sight to see. Our hatchery staff agrees that one of the favorite features with the Maine Mocha Clownfish is the dark outline that develops on the lips of some fish and looks like a French mustache. Each Maine Mocha Clownfish is unique and has a slightly different color and pattern variation. As they age and mature they tend to take on a darker coloration. Some individuals will turn almost completely black, but will always keep their orange-brown nose. As we say in Maine - “much like a black bear.”
Aquarium Host Anemones

Like the regular ocellaris, Maine Mocha Clownfish will readily accept a wide variety of host anemones and many hobbyists keep Maine Mocha Clownfish with the popular and hardy Bubble Tip Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). As a reference the natural host anemones of the regular ocellaris clownfish are Magnificent Sea Anemone (Heteractis magnifica), Giant Carpet Sea Anemone (Stichodactyla gigantean) and Merten's Carpet Sea Anemone (Stichodactyla mertensii).
