Immer wieder geistern die Riff- oder auch Riesenmuscheln als sogenannte Mördermuscheln durch die Literatur. Auch in Filmen werden sie oft immer noch so genannt. Der Name Mördermuschel ist wohl der Tridacna gigas zu verdanken.
