Info
Very special thanks for the first photos of Hazeus ingressus to Dr. Semih Engin, Izmir Katip Celebi University, Faculty of Fisheries, Turkey.
The new species is named Hazeus ingressus, because the specific name " ingressus" derives from the Latin and means " to enter, step or go into", with regard to the species entering the Mediterranean as a Lessepsian migrant, coming from the Red Sea f.e.
Hazeus ingressus was found on soft bottoms and sloping habitats in the Fethiye region, on the south-western coasts of Turkey in the Lessepsian seagrass Halophila stipulacea
(Forsskål) Ascherson, 1867).
In the moment Hazeus ingressus seems to be the dominat goby species in this region, 1 - 3 person (s) where counted per m².
A total of 107 fish species from the Indo-Pacific, the Indian Ocean and the Red Sea have found their way into the Mediterranean.
In addition to fish and crustaceans, sea plants and jellyfish also entered the Mediterranean, in any case a very successful invasion process!
Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
