Ceriantheopsis americana (Agassiz in Verrill, 1864)

Ceriantheopsis americana is a large tube-dwelling anemone. The crown of tentacles can have a diameter of up to 10 cm and project for 10 cm above the surface of the sediment. The tube is orientated vertically in the sediment, with a maximum length of about 35 cm.

This tube dwelling anemone ist nocturnal. Feeds on copepods, barnacles, amphipods and gastropod molluscs.
