Info
Klyxum adii is a small soft coral, so far known only from Kenya.
The coral forms roundish, encrusting colonies, usually up to 50-80 mm, in diameter.
The colonies were found in patches and included about a dozen colonies that, when fully expanded, may touch and even overlap at their edges.
The polyps appear to be retractable, but are noticeably flattened on the upper surface of the polyp.
The expanded polyps are medium to dark brown, which can be attributed to the zooxanthellae that are mainly found in the polyp tissue.
Color : The preserved colony is beige or light gray.
Etymology : The species name "adii" is dedicated to the late Adi Zverdling, who enthusiastically initiated and assisted in the octocoral survey in Kenya.
