The porcelain crab Pachycheles vicarius is typically found under rocks in the intertidal zone and in crevices on rocky shores, but also in coral crevices in deeper water.
Like all other porcelain crabs, it filters the finest plankton from the water for food.
Presumed West Atlantic sister species: Pachycheles susanae, the color pattern of Pachycheles vicarius is generally similar to that of Pachycheles susanae.
