Info

Callogobius clitellus is a small, white goby with a dark brown stripe from the snout to the upper pectoral fin base that converges with a bar across the nape, a dark brown band from each dorsal fin to the underside, a light to dark brown bar across the caudal fin base, and a dark brown band along the upper edge of the pectoral fin.
The irregular bands may also be orange.

The Saddleback Goby is a benthic species found in bays and on steep coral reef slopes under rubble and on sandy substrates, where it lives in small burrows.

This pretty species comes into the trade extremely rarely.

The specific "clitellus" name is derived from the Latin clitella (= pack saddle) and refers to the dark body saddles of this species.

Synonym: Callogobius clittelus McKinney & Lachner, 1978

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!
