Metopograpsus messor (Forskål, 1775)

Metopograpsus messor is a coastal and mangrove crab. The carapace and legs are mottled brownish-green, the claws are reddish-brown. The crab has conquered a variety of habitats and is found in mangroves, on sandy beaches, but also on rocky coasts. In mangroves, the crab even climbs trees at high tide.

There is a possibility of confusion, especially with Metopograppsus hukuhar, Metopograpsus cannicci and Metopograpsus frontalis.
