Living colonies are brown to dark brown, but according to the photographer, Bernhard Dupont, the colonies shown are “more silvery with maybe a hint of pink.” At the time of the photograph, the diving torch was not working.

Life cycle:
The zygote develops into a planula and later into a polyp, then into a free-swimming medusa.
Dr. Santhamam reported in 2020 that this species is toxic to humans.
The species is probably spread by rafts and shipping.
