Info
Tigrigobius gemmatus lives on clear, shallow bottoms with coral formations, especially in oceanic and insular areas and occupies caves and small holes in the so-called coral cement, which are created by the beetle snail (Choneplax lata) in red coral algae at shallow depths, usually less than 1 meter,
The head and body of the small goby are dark gray, with 8 - 9 darker, dark brown to black body bands behind the operculum.
The bands completely encircle the body, but often break into “Y's” dorsally.
Three dark bars cross the top of the head and nape, the head is mottled with dark brown and light spots, the spots extend to the cheeks
Some spots are yellowish gray, the vertical fins are faintly banded, the membranes are dark, the light spots often continue along the dorsal midline at the base of the fins and coincide with light interspaces.
The fins are dark with dense melanophores on the fin membranes, but the elements are pale.
