From Aims

Characters: Colonies are flat unifacial plates or, rarely, form columns. The coenosteum is fine, without any ornamentation. Corallites are small and widely spaced.

Similar Species: Montipora calcarea, which has an uneven surface and coarse coenosteum. See also M. turgescens.
