Info

Setchell, 1926

The algae grow on rocks, gravel and mangrove roots in subtidal zones, close to the coast with appropriate water movement. The branches are strap-shaped, dichotomously divided, up to 5 mm wide and with round tips.

The color is greenish-brown with concentric lines, the algae can grow rapidly in the aquarium under optimal conditions.

If the algae is to be used in seawater tanks, care should be taken to keep a sufficient distance from other corals due to its strong growth.

Economic importance: feed, food and medicine (antibacterial effect).
