Schizobrachiella sanguinea (Norman, 1868)

Schizobrachiella sanguinea forms broad colonies, often only partly attached to the substrate and developing erect, folded lobes or plates. Colonies are deep red.Its brown when the colonie dried. Autozooids are rectangular or irregularly polygonal and are arranged in a regular radiating series.

The encrusting bryozoan colonise on hard substrates, especially on shells. It is found in waters from 10 m to 50 m.
