Codakia distinguenda is a quite common mussel that occurs from Baja Sur californica to Panama.

The outer edge of the inner shell shows a reddish-orange border.

Similar Species: Codakia punctata (Linnaeus, 1758), which is found in the Indo-West-Pacific.
