Info
Tridacna elongatissima was revealed in the latest article by Fauvelot et al. (2020) published in the Journal of Biogeography. It even made it to the volume cover of Journal of Biogeography! Congratulations to my colleagues, Cécile Fauvelot and Serge Andréfouët!
Tridacna elongatissima, the latest cryptic species of the giant clams discovered in the Western Indian ocean. Featured on the volume’s cover of Journal of Biogeography.
This small family of giants continues to amaze me over the years! Since Rosewater (1965)’s comprehensive descriptive paper on the giant clam taxonomy and systematics, the number of giant clam species has doubled in number in the past 50 years!
