Info
Muriceopsis tuberculata occurs along the West African coast in zones easily accessible to divers.
The coral makes rather little talk of itself, but has come up repeatedly in recent years as a host of two invertebrates.
In February 2013, the barnacle Conopea fidelis was spotted on Muriceopsis tuberculata.
In 2018, Dr. Peter Wirtz discovered a previously unknown Hippolyte cleaner shrimp on the coral, which was first described in 2019 as Hippolyte cedrici Fransen & De Grave, 2019.
The symbiotic shrimp has also been found on the bicolor Tanacetipathes spinescens (Gray, 1857) and Antipathella wollastoni (Gray, 1857).
