Info

Pteragogus cryptus Randall, 1981

A secretive species occurring on coral reefs where it hides among soft corals and benthic algae. Feeds on benthic invertebrates.

Synonym:
Pterogogus cryptus Randall, 1981

Jumping guard
A jumping guard prevents (nocturnal) fish from jumping out.
Wrasses, blennies, hawkfishs and gobies jump out of an unprotected tank in fright if their night rest is disturbed, unfortunately these jumpers are found dried up in the morning on carpets, glass edges or later behind the tank.

A small night light also helps, as it provides the fish with a means of orientation in the dark!

Nach wenigen, aber doch verlässlichen Berichten sollte man Pteragogus Lippfische nicht mit Putzergarnelen (auch Gattung Lysmata) vergesellschaften. Diese werden nur zu leicht Opfer des Lippfisches.
