Peyssonnelia squamaria (S.G.Gmelin) Decaisne, 1842

Peyssonnelia squamaria is dark red, reddish brown to blackish. This alga has flat, leaf-like thalli, kidney shaped.This Red algae growing spread horizontally and is attached to the substrate by rhizoids. This alga feels leathery.Bottom of the thalli is wholly or partially calcified.
