Colonies have thick sturdy branches which are circular in cross section and diverge from a solid base. Branches slightly taper and have a single dome-shaped axial corallite. Radial corallites are small and immersed. The coenosteum is composed of fine spinules with elaborated tips which are raised into Montipora-like tuberculae.
Colour: Dark brown with white branch ends.
Habitat: Shallow water, especially exposed upper reef slopes and flats.
Abundance: Locally common.
